My Bio
Joshua Tay is a freelance concept illustrator and an arts trainer, based in Singapore, who has been creating artworks for more than 7 years. He specialize in character creations, creative intellectual properties and concept arts & designs for lifestyle & entertainment. In 2007, he was awarded 2nd Runners Up in Mangaka 07; a Singapore digital arts competition. In 2010, his design was awarded Top 10 Designs for Youth.sg Tote Bag design Competition 2010. In the same year, Joshua was honoured to be featured in Spotted! section of Culturepush in the month of February 2010. In the ImagineFX Issue 86, Joshua's artworks were featured in the DVD Readers' FXPose Gallery. He also started "365 Days of Sketches", an initiative to encourage drawing every day, 365 days a year. He is also the creator of 阿毛日记, a story about a fictional local neighbourhood kid who is curious about everything in the world. Currently, Joshua is constantly seeking to work and collaborate with potential partners and clients on projects like comics, graphic novels, books, toys, apparels, trading game cards, films and games for consoles, mobiles and/or PC. Usually, Joshua can be found siting in a cafe with coffee and a good book.

WORLD OF A-MAO, 阿毛日记 is a 22-pages book in the chinese mandrin language, with only the acknowledgements in English. It is a book about a fictional character name A-Mao, which I created. I hope you'll reply soon! ;DHi Jemi, Thank you. I went to poly to study IT after secondary school, and never studied a full time arts school as it was expensive and my art was not good then. However, later on I began to self-learn online and took up part-time short courses from now defunct, Egg Story Digital Arts, and FZD school.

As for me, I plan to study Visual Communication (advertising, graphic design, logos, e.t.c.) in a nearby poly after secondary school

Sorry for asking so much, I'm just really curious ^_^
Being a freelance means you have to know alot of other stuffs, other than creating your artworks. For example, you need to know where to get clients who would like your service, you need to know some accounting and bookeeping matters, etc. So you definitely need to work real hard and make alot of sacrifices.
Income varies on individuals, if your audience are willing to pay for what you create, you'll definitely do well in the long run. If not, you'll have to take up some other ad hoc/part-time jobs to replenish the lack.
As of now, I'm quite happy, as things are starting to move, although, still rather slowly.
All the best for your O levels, you've a very beautiful gallery. Hope you can find your niche which can propel you to where your heart desires.
